The Corned Beef Saga
Each year we receive correspondence about Shannon Farms Corned Beef from folks up and down the East Coast. These calls and emails pick up around New Year’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day with a varying levels of satisfaction reported. With the advent of Google, they are erroneously directed to us and will not take NO for an answer. It is almost always purchased at Price Chopper and the company that produces the product does a great job of not having an online presence. Enjoy some of the errant feedback we receive.

I need to advise you about your corned beef I cooked it as directed & couldn’t serve it. It was the worst corned beef ever...pure salt & no flavor at all! It’s in the trash & dinner ruined...terrible.

I purchased, as I always do) your corned beef, and the green package was delicious. However the beef brisket was too firm and dry. The 2 meats were cooked in the same slow-cooker, and sliced the same way at the same time. I was so disappointed, I wound up putting it in the food processor and making corned beef hash. This was not what I wanted to do. Please advise, thanks so much, SG p.s., what kind of corned beef comes in a yellow/orange wrap bag? I got this, too.

I always buy your corned beef. This year it had no flavor of being corned. It was if it was rushed in the process. The only thing that changed in my prep was the quantity as I usually cook for a community dinner and do 20-30 pounds. Just me and my hubby and he agreed about the lack of flavor.. Basically just wanted to let you know something went wrong.

We purchased one of your corned beef servings for St. Patricks day this year. It is the better cut and just about 3 pounds. We slow cooked it for 10 hours on low adding only onions on the botton,
the spice packet, garlic, and 2 bay leaves. Enough water to just come to the top of the meat with fat side up. About 4 hours in we added cut up potatoes and carrots. At 2 hours left we added wedges of cabbage. It was a 4 quart slow cooker and it was filled to the top. There were only two of us. We have to say this was the best corned beef we have ever prepared. You corned beef is 5*****stars. It was the quality of the meat and not the preparation that made the meal.
We just used the left overs to make Rubens. We cooked a corned beef from another source last year and it was the worst we ever had. So we were skeptical going in this year. We will always look for Shannon Farms brand corned beef every year. If I found a place to comment on Google Reviews I would say the same thing.
Thank you.

I cooked a 10 lb corned beef from Shannon farms. It was so horribly salty we could not eat it! I cooked it as suggested on your package. Very dissatisfied and disappointed!

Hi I just have to say nothing upsets me more then when I go to cook something and everything IS NOT there!!!!
I purchased. Corned Beef Pointe from my local Pricechopper to cook for today (St Patrick’s Day). So I open it and there is NO!!! spice packet in with it (the most important part). This really upset me and now I will have a very disgusting corned beef to eat. Not happy at all.

I purchased your brand corned beef from our local price chopper market. After cooking the meat for less than 1 hour in the crock pot, the meat looked like a canned meat product. Needless to say that went into the trash. Thought maybe it was just a fluke. Purchased another corned beef and the same result, it turned to mush. I have never even thought this was possible due to this cut of meat always needing long cooking times to make tender.
Thought someone might like to be made aware in your company.

Your Corned beef is always great but this is the second time we have purchased from Price Chopper in Albany NY and the spice packet is not in the package! What the heck is the problem!?
Please respond at your earliest convenience

Hi: I have a 2.75lb of your corn beef. According to your instruction it should cook abt 50mins. per pound which will be abt 2.5 hrs. if my calculation is correct. Recipe on internet says 2.5-3lb should cook for 8-12 hrs in slow cooker. I don't want under or over cooked meat. Please advise. Thx.

Shannon Farms has phenomenal corned beef. This Shannon family has been purchasing this brand for years. We look forward to buying it every year for St. Patrick’s Day. Thank you for many more years of our tradition.

I'm not sure if this is the same Shannon Farms that supplies Price Chopper with corned beef, if not, my apologies. If you do, i just wanted to express my dissatisfaction with 2 corned beef point briskets I purchased and smoked. I've smoked briskets several times and have always soaked over night to release salt. That being said, I smoked 2 today, with no salt added, and they were so salty we had to throw them away. I don't know if they were over brined? But the salt was so bad we honestly couldn't eat them. I've never had your brand before, and I'd be afraid to try them again. I wish I had the lot number so you could check, but I'm guessing it was a bad batch. I just wanted to express my disappointment, we were really looking forward to it.

purchased corned beef brisket flat cut ($24.93) that had a strange odor while cooking and did not dare
serve to my family. Use by date Aug 12, 2020. This also includes all the fixings too! baby potatoes, onions, garlic, cabbage, carrots, brussels sprouts, mushrooms. This was a going away dinner for my daughter, son in law and my two granddaughters who are moving to DC. Ruined the whole dinner and evening. Please contact me above for a full refund of $24.93 plus all the fixings too!

First I want to say we have been enjoying your product for years. Unfortunately this year we haven’t had any luck with the corned beef. We have purchased at least 4 and 3 of them we have had to throw away. We discarded them because after they were cooked , they turned to mush and had no flavor even with the packet. We aren’t sure what the issue is. We aren’t cooking them any differently then normal.

dear Kelly/Jonathan, to have a good yield and tender meat, is it okay to start with the frozen meat or should i thaw it inbthe refrigerator first?
